CURIUM Co-Organises LIFESEC 2026 at IEEE SmartComp in Messina

CURIUM co-organised the 2nd Workshop on Whole-Lifecycle Security for Smart Systems: Methods and Tools (LIFESEC 2026), held in June 2026 in Messina, Italy, as part of the 12th IEEE International Conference on Smart Computing (IEEE SmartComp 2026).

LIFESEC 2026 brought together researchers and cybersecurity experts to exchange knowledge and explore approaches for strengthening security throughout the entire lifecycle of smart, IoT and cyber-physical systems.

The workshop addressed a broad range of topics, including security-by-design, cybersecurity certification and compliance, vulnerability and firmware security, AI-assisted security, digital twins and cloud security, as well as alignment with evolving European cybersecurity legislation, including the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Cybersecurity Act (CSA).

The program featured research presentations, complemented by an interactive session on tools and techniques for whole-lifecycle security, creating opportunities for participants to exchange experiences and discuss practical approaches to addressing cybersecurity challenges.

LIFESEC 2026 was jointly organised by six European research and innovation projects: CURIUM, TELEMETRY, DOSS, EMERALD, COBALT and CUSTODES. Their collaboration reflects the importance of bringing together complementary expertise and solutions to address common cybersecurity, certification and regulatory challenges.

For CURIUM, participation in the organisation of LIFESEC 2026 provided an opportunity to contribute to knowledge exchange and capacity building around cybersecurity resilience and regulatory compliance, while strengthening collaboration with other European initiatives working towards a more secure and resilient digital ecosystem.
